I’m Dr. Patty Ou, DPT, PRPC, LAc, a pelvic health physical therapist and acupuncturist. My work focuses on helping people with issues that many struggle with but don’t always talk about - things like pelvic pain, bladder or bowel problems, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, and core dysfunction.
What makes my approach unique is that I also integrate acupuncture, which can help reduce pain, calm the nervous system, and support healing in a different way.
My goals is to help people understand their bodies better, and give them practical tools so they can live freely. I am passionate about helping people stop leaking urine, have regular bowel movements, and participate in your daily activities without fear or discomfort.
Top 10 Reasons to work with Dr. Ou:
I understand the whole person, not just the pelvis. I look at the entire body and nervous system. I have the Pelvic Rehab Practitioner Certification to do this work. I am not just a regular PT who primarily treats back and hip pain, but also sees pelvic floor patients without the training to assess and treat the pelvic floor directly.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space in a 1 on 1 session with a dual-licensed PT and acupuncturist, who has formal training in traditional Chinese medicine to merge both eastern and western perspectives.
I am licensed to provide acupuncture that complements pelvic health treatments within the same treatment session, which makes my treatments more effective and efficient. In California, physical therapists cannot do dry needling. Patients will need to see separate practitioners for physical therapy and acupuncture.
I personally answer your calls and respond to all of your questions over the phone. No interaction with admins.
I provide personalized posture and movement training based on your needs and abilities. I am highly skilled at tweaking exercises to make them challenging yet doable for you. This helps you create new neural pathways for new movement patterns, which are essential in preventing injuries. I do not just give you a series of exercises to do.
I work with you directly for the entire treatment session. No handoff to PT aides or techs who are not licensed to provide physical therapy.
I respect complexity. Bladder, bowel, sexual pain, prolapse, postpartum recovery are layered issues. I don’t oversimplify or rush. I adapt my approaches based on your temperament, cultural preferences, and motivation.
I coach you to become a better person, and support you physically, mentally, and emotionally. I teach you strategies to deal with hardships and challenges related to your condition.
I hold you accountable for doing the work that leads you to live the life you want to have. I give you a small amount of homework or exercises each time and guide you towards making changes.
I am a mom to 3 beautiful and talented neurodivergent children. I understand stressful home and work life, different brain types, and distinct learning styles. I am always learning to become a better person myself.

“I had a fantastic experience working with Patty over half a dozen sessions to address my persistent hip pain. She is an excellent listener and was genuinely committed to diagnosing the root cause of the problem, rather than just treating the symptoms. Her in-session manipulations provided significant relief, and she equipped me with a set of effective exercises that have been crucial to my recovery. Thanks to her knowledgeable and thorough approach, I am feeling so much better. Highly recommend!” ~O.C.

“I am so thankful for the help I received from my Kegel trainer, Patty Ou. She started by carefully measuring input and output. Then she moved on to working with me on Kegel exercises to address my overactive bladder and constipation. When those didn’t provide enough relief, she thoughtfully suggested a non-invasive TENS unit. To my amazement, the results were immediate—I experienced instant relief! What impressed me most was her patient, step-by-step approach and her genuine commitment to finding the right solution for me. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate, effective care.” ~P.V.

“Patty taught me so much about my body that I didn’t know I needed to know! My stomach muscles separated after having kids (a condition called diastasis recti) and 9 years later finally decided to do something about it. Patty was able to help me understand how to build back the muscle slowly and steadily so I have comfort doing “real” ab work now. She listens, is clear and pivots if something doesn’t feel right. So happy to have found Patty!” ~C.E.
